FAQ

## Frequently Asked Questions

###### How does BioH2 achieve Hydrogen production at only 180°C?

BioH2 uses a proprietary catalyst to enable hydrogen production from biowaste at a reaction temperature of 180°C and a pressure of approximately 3 MPa. The catalyst facilitates the conversion process, reducing the temperature required compared with conventional high-temperature approaches.

###### What is the purity of the hydrogen produced?

BioH2’s technology targets high-purity hydrogen for industrial and fuel-cell applications. The final purity specification depends on the feedstock, operating conditions and gas purification configuration. Please contact our technical team to discuss the purity and impurity limits required for your application.

###### Can the system handle unsorted municipal waste?

The technology is designed for suitable biowaste streams, including mixed organic materials. This does not mean that all unsorted municipal waste can be fed directly into the system. Feedstock assessment and appropriate pre-treatment are needed to identify unsuitable materials and establish the right processing conditions.

###### Is the catalyst consumed during the process?

The catalyst helps the reaction proceed rather than serving as a feedstock that is converted into hydrogen. However, catalyst activity can decline over time due to contaminants and operating conditions. Its service life and any regeneration or replacement requirements must be assessed for the specific feedstock and application.

###### What happens to the Carbon Dioxide generated?

CO₂ management forms part of each project’s process and emissions design. Depending on the gas composition and local infrastructure, options for separation, capture and beneficial use can be evaluated. The overall carbon footprint depends on the feedstock, energy supply and final treatment of the CO₂; producing hydrogen from biowaste does not automatically make the process carbon-neutral.
